The Lipohar family seems to be related within one generation, but we're spread out all over the world. It will be nice for us to all put our histories together on this site and figure out how we are all related.

My brother Mick lives in Calgary....I'm not sure if you review your blog or comments to your posts often....but check them all because I've answered some of your questions....today, Jan. 29'th, 2009....I will monitor this site for a while to see if you respond....then I'd like to talk with you....thanks....Steve
I think if we can get more info off Steve it would be good, it seems that his grandmother - Rozalija was only married to Franjo for 4mths (April-August 1923) before he died,(which my Grandmother tells me that he was murdered? possibly something to do with his inlaws blaming him for his first wife Marija's death)????????? in which time Rozalija fell pregnant meaning that Stephan was born between Jan-May 1924...If he was born after those months i would seriously question that he was Franjo's son.
I Wonder if Steve knows what year his dad came to Canada, which part of Canada and if he has and details for Rozalija, if she also came to Canada and if they had to escape like my mum and her family had to.
Would be amazing if he had information on Rozalija and Franjo and possibly Franjo's parents or where he came from??
I am figuring he came from Livonia(Latvia) due to the crest, but I can't get any more information, as hard as i try, for any Lipohar's from this country.
Is it possible they are from somewhere else??
Fingers crossed Steve knows more.
Lydija, I am also interested if your grandfather/father had to escape like my family did. It is such a fascinating story and I am hoping to get it all written down and possibly published before my Grandmother forgets as my mother was only 11 and doesnt remember as much as Baka does.
Hi...good question about when my dad came...he arrived in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada where he met my mother in a post office....her name was Margaret Beck....that date would have been close to 1954...will find out for sure. My sister Sue is in Port Dover and can tell you a whole lot more...she still communicates with a lady over there....who has a son that lives in Australia...his name escapes me.....keep writing...I will dig deeper !!!
